lyrics

ORIGAMI BIRD
Whoever drew my body
was coloring outside the lines
but sometimes I can't help
dressing to the nines
fancy hats and plumes of smoke
I build my queendom out of twine
and bicycle spokes

Once I knew a boy
he tried to erase me
he tried to make me over
like he was the Avon lady
but I'm a resourceful girl
I'm an origami bird
and my wings may be torn
but my feet still work

Sometimes people tell me
hey, not bad for a lady
I think it's kind of funny
that they should mistake me
for someone who knows
the rules of etiquette
if I'd known this was a contest
I surely would have quit

Soundtrack for a slow ride on the merry-go-round. Circus, accordion, stories wrapped up in a sonic dreamscape with a dash of humor and sometimes some spooky stuff.
